The collection contains a scrapbook of clippings, August to November 1904, mainly concerning Taggart during the unsuccessful presidential campaign of Democrats Alton B. Parker and Henry Gassaway Davis. There is also a resolution of condolence by the board of American Fletcher National Bank.

Alton Brooks Parker (May 14, 1852 – May 10, 1926) was an American judge, best known as the Democrat who lost the presidential election of 1904 to incumbent Theodore Roosevelt in a landslide. A native of upstate New York, Parker practiced law in Kingston, New York, before being appointed to the New York Supreme Court and elected to the New York Court of Appeals; he served as Chief Judge of the latter from 1898 to 1904, when he resigned to run for president. Taggart, Thomas, 1856-1929

A native of Ireland, Thomas Taggart emigrated to the U.S. as a child. In 1877 he moved to Indianapolis and became involved in Democratic politics, and worked his way to the national level. Taggart served as state Democratic chairman, three terms as mayor of Indianapolis, and on the Democratic National Committee.
